Dear students,

welcome to our faculty! We are delighted that you have decided to study with us. To support you in getting off to a great start, we have compiled a range of resources and key information on this page. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the coordinator for the study entry phase or get in touch with our student tutors.

We wish you a successful start to your studies!

Registration in Stud.IP required!

In order to inform you about everything important before and during your studies, it is necessary that you join your study program group in Stud.IP:

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Take the identifier and password of the study data sheet received by mail and log in.
  2. In the Account Manager under IT Services, activate the "WebSSO / OpenID" access.
  3. Log in to Stud.IP.
  4. Search for the above-mentioned event and enter it (Tip: Search for all events in the search on the left).

If you have not yet received your study data sheet, you can still see the information in the study program groups (even without logging in). As soon as you have the documents, you should join the corresponding group.

Foundation courses

Students often face the challenge of fulfilling the mathematical requirements at the beginning of their Bachelor's degree programme. To help you get started with your studies, we offer preliminary courses aimed at prospective students of the Bachelor's degree programmes at the Faculty.

A two-week general maths pre-course is followed by subject-specific courses entitled ‘Mathematical Methods in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Mechatronics & Teaching’ (MMDE) and ‘Mathematical Methods in Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Teaching’ (MMDI). The MMDE course includes a final exam, which is a compulsory part of the degree programme.

We highly recommend participation in the maths pre-course and MMDE/MMDI. In addition to the academic support, you will be able to meet your fellow students and first-year tutors, make friends and form study groups. You will also receive important information about your degree programme at our information events.

Do you want to get in touch with them now? The first-year tutors will be happy to support you and can be reached via the following contact options:

Tutors for undergraduate students:

You will get to know your first-year tutors during the preliminary courses or latest at the welcome reception for first-year students. If you do not have a tutor when you start your degree programme, please contact oe-orga@finf.uni-hannover.de.

Tutors for graduate students:

You can contact your first-year tutors at oe-master-inf@finf.uni-hannover.de (Computer Science, Computer Science Teacher Training, Computer Engineering), oe-master-et@finf.uni-hannover.de (Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Electrical Engineering Teacher Training) or oe-master-en@finf.uni-hannover.de (Power Engineering).

If you have any questions, you can also contact the Student Councils ("Fachräte"). They are your student representatives at the university and are happy to support you as you begin your studies.

First-semester welcome flyer

The first-semester welcome flyer Kurzschluss and Informant summarise everything important for you to know when you are starting your studies. They are updated shortly before the start of each semester.
